Homemade Yeast Dinner Rolls

Yall I made homemade dinner rolls the other night and I just had to share. They turned out so fluffy, delicious, and just the right amount of buttery for our liking.

I started by adding the yeast, warm water, and sugar into my mixer bowl and let that sit for 5 minutes.

Once that is done sitting, I added one cup of flour to the mix, along with the salt, whole milk, and melted butter. Then I turned my mixer on medium with the hook attachment. I mixed for about 2 minutes.

Then, I added another cup of flour and turned my mixer on high for 2 minutes. This should start to form into a dough ball at this point. If its too sticky, add a quarter cup of flour as needed.

Once your dough ball is ready, its important to flour your work station to make it easier to knead the dough. Scrap the dough ball onto your station and then knead with the heel of your hand for 2 minutes. Form the dough back into a ball and place the dough into a greased bowl with a towel on top. Place the bowl into a dark, warm place for 30 minutes. I placed mine in my oven, but because I have an electric oven, I did need to turn it on for just two minutes and then right back off. You dont want it more than 90 degrees in there.

Next, youll want to grease an 8 inch baking pan and split the dough into 12 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place it in the pan. They should all touch each other with a little room to grow. Cover the pan with the towel again and place back in your dark, warm place for 30 more minutes.

Remove the rolls from the oven and preheat to 375 degrees. Bake for 20-25 minutes depending on how brown you want the tops. We like ours a little doughy, so I went for 20 minutes.

Once you take the rolls out, immediately butter the tops and let that melt. You could also add some seasoning or herbs here if you wanted. Garlic herb butter would be amazing on these.

If you wanted to make them ahead of time, do everything right up to when youre putting the balls into the pan, and instead of putting it back in to rise, pop it in the freezer. Put it in the fridge overnight before you want to bake and then bring them to room temp before you bake.

Let me know if you make some! Id love to see pictures and know how you liked this recipe.
