Bang Bang Shrimp Salad a Spicy, Healthy Dinner Idea

This Bang Bang Shrimp Salad has exceptional flavor and is a well-balanced quick and easy meal! I love how the spice of the shrimp contrast with the crisp freshness of the salad and veggies. This is a dinner perfect for a summer night or anytime, really! We could definitely eat shrimp anytime at our house. Ha! I like that this particular recipe isn’t too hot, so it’s child-friendly, too. However, if you do want the Bang Bang sauce to have more or less spice, adjust the amount of sriracha to your taste preference. (The chili sauce can stay the same, because it has more of a sweet taste.) I have some step-by-step instructions with photos below, or you can scroll down to the recipe.

Instructions for Bang Bang Shrimp Salad

Bang Bang Sauce being made in a white mixing bowl

Combine chili sauce, sriracha, and mayo in a small mixing bowl and set aside.

The amounts of the chili sauce, sriracha, and mayo can easily be doubled if you are using more shrimp.

Place fried shrimp in a large mixing bowl and pour on Bang Bang sauce. Toss to mix well. Or, gently mix with a spatula. (If you mix too hard, the breading will separate and come off of the shrimp.)

Place lettuce in a large salad bowl (we use pasta bowls for dinner salads like this!) and top with Bang Bang shrimp, sliced cucumbers, green onions, carrots, and avocados. You can switch out the veggies for whatever you like best! You can either mix up the bang bang shrimp with the salad so the Bang Bang sauce coats the lettuce and veggies OR you can use the salad dressing of your choice. Either option is just fine! Ranch might be a great option to bring down the heat of the Bang Bang sauce.

What is the difference between Bang Bang Shrimp and Firecracker Shrimp?

The original Bang Bang Shrimp is exclusively found at the well-known Bonefish Grill restaurant. There are many copycat recipes out there for this recipe if you want to make it at home, however! Firecracker shrimp is essentially the same thing–a spicy shrimp sauce–however many recipes add sesame oil and soy sauce to create an oriental-inspired spicy sauce.
