7 Birmingham-area restaurants open New Year’s Day – Bham Now
Celebrate the start of the new year all weekend long! Pop the champagne at midnight then visit one of these seven Birmingham-area restaurants that are open on New Year’s Day.
1. Trattoria Zaza
If your New Year’s resolution is to eat more pasta and pizza by the slice, the folks at Trattoria Zaza will be there to help make your dream a reality by kicking off 2023 with their normal operating hours. Take advantage of your out-of-office email and start the new year the right way: mimosas and breakfast ‘za.
2. The Essential
Coming off their week-long brunch-a-thon, visit one of our favorite spots on Morris Avenue. Their staff will be kicking off the new year with brunch all day long. Crossing our fingers that the weather will let us enjoy ourselves on their fantastic patio.
3. Saw’s Juke Joint
The only branch of one of Birmingham’s favorite BBQ places open on New Year’s Day, do we need to say more? Start 2023 with their classic sweet tea fried chicken sandwich, fried green tomatoes, pulled pork sandwiches, and more!
4. Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint
Stouts, IPAs, canned wine, burgers, and fried oreos, what more could you want? Work your way to becoming Jack Brown’s notcher of the month this New Year’s Day as they’re open during their normal operating hours (and yes the burger of the day will be the Showalter–bacon, fried egg, and complete with a glazed donut).
5. Bay Leaf Modern Indian Cuisine & Bar
The way to our heart is Indian cuisine. Enjoy one of their craft cocktails while you finish off the first day of 2023 with their dinner service. Their Five Points South location will be operating under their normal hours all weekend long.
6. Slice Pizza & Brew
Whether you’re looking forward to enjoying the last couple of drafts of your favorite holiday brew or splitting a series of pizzas with your family or friends, Slice’s Birmingham location will be open their regular hours on New Year’s Day.
7. Automatic Seafood & Oysters
Treat yourself to brunch or dinner service at Automatic Seafood & Oysters, one of Birmingham’s favorite fine-dining restaurants on January 1st. From their specialty oysters, their famous yeast rolls with Eastaboga cultured honey butter, and their refreshing cocktail menu, you’ll be starting. the new year off the right way.
