Best food to eat in Sengkang

Having lived and grown up in Sengkang my entire life, you can be certain of my recommendations on the best grubs to get here! Though it is located far up the North East Line, the food scene in the area is far more vibrant and exciting than what most people expect it to be. As a proud native of this neighbourhood, here are the 14 best Sengkang food spots you shouldn’t miss!

1. Zoey’s Diner

Sengkang - Zoeys-Diner

Zoey’s Diner is well-known among Sengkang residents for their affordable yet creative burgers. Their signature burger is a fusion of Chinese bao and a Western burger, which they have affectionately named “Baobae”. A popular pick is their Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($8.90), which has crispy fried chicken sandwiched between fluffy Baobae buns. Another bestseller is Zoey’s Classic Cheese Burger ($9.90), a succulent beef patty layered with house-made Zoey’s Burger Sauce.

I highly recommend going for their signature Herbal Seafood Soup ($6), a rich broth containing pork, seafood, and a combination of herbs which are meant to be immunity-boosting. Otherwise, their X.O. Fried Batang Fish Soup ($6) is a superb choice as well. For extra flavour, dip your fish in their house-made chilli, which is made with a fermented bean base.

The pork ribs are said to be ‘dry barbecued’ in Memphis fashion and slathered with a tangy vinegar-based sauce for a richer flavour.
