This super cheesy and yummy baked lasagna by Kuya Fern’s Cooking is by far the best one I have ever made at home. You can taste the creaminess of the white sauce and the savoriness of the red sauce. It’s the perfect dish to serve a crowd! Read on or watch the video below for full instructions.
Ingredients:
- 14 cups of water
- 4 tablespoons of salt
- 1.1 lb of lasagna pasta
- 2 onions (chopped)
- 6 cloves of garlic (chopped)
- 1 small bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 2.2 lb of ground beef
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of ground black pepper (and more)
- 17.6 oz of tomato sauce
- 5.8 oz of grated cheese
- 1/2 cup of light brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons of tomato paste
- 0.4 cups of butter
- 2 cups of all-purpose cream
- 1 and 1/2 cups of cold evaporated milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 11.5 oz of grated mozzarella cheese
Instructions:
Step 1:
Cook the pasta based on package instructions.
Step 2:
Heat oil in a pan over high heat. Add the chopped onions and saute for 20 seconds. Next, add chopped garlic and saute for another 10 seconds. After that, add in the chopped bell pepper and fry for 30 seconds.
Step 3:
Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Season with ground black pepper and salt. Let it cook for 30 seconds more. Strain the meat and keep the rendered fat. Set aside the ground beef.
Step 4:
Leave a bit of the rendered fat and add 4 tablespoons of tomato paste. Saute on high heat for about 30 seconds, then add the tomato sauce. Continue to cook on high heat until it thickens up.
Step 5:
Add 1/2 cup of brown sugar and grated cheese. Mix on high heat and let the cheese and sugar dissolve.
Step 6:
Once the sauce thickens, add the ground beef and mix it with the sauce.
Step 7:
In a different pan, melt the butter on medium heat. Next, add 2 cups of all-purpose cream. Mix thoroughly and let it come to a simmer. Once simmering, add evaporated milk and stir well.
Step 8:
Add grated cheese and mozzarella cheese. Mix thoroughly and let the cheese melt. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and ground black pepper. Stir and reduce heat. Cook until it thickens a little bit, then turn off the heat.
Step 9:
In a baking dish, add a layer of the meat sauce and spread evenly. Add the first layer of cooked pasta. Make sure they overlap. Next, spread white sauce. Repeat the layers two to three times, depending on your baking dish. Top it with mozzarella cheese.
Step 10:
Place in a preheated oven at 338F for about 15 minutes then broil for 5 minutes.
Step 11:
Let it rest for about 15 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
