Life is like a game of chess. To win you have to make a move. Knowing which move to make comes with IN-sight and knowledge . . .
~ Allan Rufus
How well do you know yourself? Or your loved ones? I doubt Allan Rufus was talking about the same thing I am in this article, but the topics can be close cousins, and I like this quote.
How many of you have ever taken a personality test? I’m not talking about the ones you run into on Facebook every two minutes, where you find out what kind of fast-food you are. Though I have to admit that I have a weakness for those too, when I’m in the mood to hide from reality.
The personality test I’m talking about is this one: Free Personality Test | 16Personalities. Notice that beautiful word free. I would recommend that you take it now, if you haven’t before! It won’t cost you a thing, and it might even help you.
In fact, even if you have taken it before, if you can spare the time, take it again! I retest myself and my immediate family semi-regularly, just to see if we get the same results. You are especially likely to have different results if you’re testing a kiddo who isn’t fully grown yet. Boy, adolescence comes with some big ole fat changes!
There are 16 personality types detailed here: Personality Types | 16Personalities, if you want to have an idea of what the “options” are.
I first learned about this test years ago, when my sister sent me a link and told me to take it. I took the test solely because she told me to. She’s my big sister, so what was I supposed to do?
But once I took the test and started reading about the identifying markers in my personality type, I was fascinated, and I have asked most of the people in my life to take it by now. (Which might explain why she sent me the link in the first place. It’s addictive!)
It is kind of eerie how accurate the results my family and I have ended up with are. And it has helped us understand each other a little better, since we have some wildly different personalities in this household. Taking the time to read the profiles of the personality types each of my girls had, as well as my husband’s, explained a lot of things that I just didn’t quite get about their day-to-day actions and reactions.
The beauty of this test is that even with the free version, it breaks different aspects of your life down for you, and it explains why each personality type reacts the way they do. If you take the time to explore the test, you will be able to learn about the following sections of your (or your loved one’s) personality:
· Strengths & Weaknesses
· Romantic Relationships
· Friendships
· Parenthood
· Career Paths
· Workplace Habits
If you want to get to know yourself better, or your loved ones, here’s the link to the free test again: Free Personality Test | 16Personalities.
Seriously, take the test. You won’t regret it, at least not as much as you do the ones where Facebook tells you what kind of pasta noodle you are.
