Easy Homemade Yeast Rolls

1 2

I was in the mood to bake this afternoon and a quick internet search made the decision for me to bake these yeast rolls! Many thanks to Spend with Pennies for this easy recipe.  I adapted it somewhat to use the Kitchen-Aid stand mixer with the dough hook.  It made an easy job even easier.

1 cup warm tap water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup sugar
2 T. yeast
1/2 t. salt
1 egg, beaten
1 T. softened butter
3 1/2 - 4 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 cup milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

In the bowl of a Kitchen aide stand mixer, combine 1 cup water, oil, sugar, and yeast on the #1 speed setting with the paddle attachment.  Let sit for about 8 minutes or until yeast is bubbly.  Then add beaten egg, softened butter, and salt with the #1 speed setting.

Swap out the paddle attachment for the dough hook.  With the speed setting on #2, add the flour 1 cup at a time until you have a soft dough. Let the mixer continue to knead the dough for 5 minutes.

Divide the dough into 18 balls. Place in a greased 9 x 13 baking pan.  Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for 25 - 30 minutes.

Lightly brush with milk and bake on the middle rack for 10 - 12 minutes or until golden brown.

If you're intimidated by baking, this is the perfect "starter" recipes to get you on your way.  These were light and delicious.  Plus, there's no better aroma than fresh yeast rolls baking in the oven!
